Mercurio, LLC facilitates and provides academic and experiential study abroad opportunities for university students and other learners who seek to expand their worldview through one-of-a-kind cultural immersion programs that break down barriers and foster meaningful connections that advance a global citizenry.
The cornerstone of Mercurio is its Communication and Culture program based in Cagli, Italy. The program immerses students in the day-to-day life of Cagli, a medieval town in the center of the Marche region, and encourages participants to move beyond the role of a casual tourist to develop a better understanding of the true heart of Italian life – the people.
Mercurio was founded by John S. Caputo, Ph.D., a professor of Communication and Leadership Studies and distinguished scholar at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Wash. Dr. Caputo has been leading study abroad programs in Italy for more than two decades, including in Cagli since 2004.
The faculty comprises experienced educators who are leaders in their field, including former and current journalists and photojournalists, language instructors and other communications professionals.
